Hunter Wellies

Its time for a new pair of wellies as the weather is getting Censored walking the dog. I fancy a pair of hunter but not sure if they are worth it. Any views opinions? Are they a tight or loose fit? [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

My last pair lasted @ 20 years before the rubber perished and the tread wore out, hoping for a new pair for Christmas. Must be green! .

Like Joe had a pair that lasted 20years - made by uniroyal. Next pair lasted less than 4 years (gates rubber). Have been using Muck Boots since and still on the original ones. Fantastic find

Currently got Hunter Balmoral Neoprene- toasty and unbelievably comfortable also can ride in them and a pair of Le chameau chausseurs for shooting in the extreme mud.

Definitely recommend Muck boots too as David suggested, GF's dad has a pair I borrowed a couple of times they're like socks!

I found hunters without the expandable section to be too tight around the calf

I have the Le Chameau boots with the long zip up the outside both leather-lined and the neoprene lined ones. Absolutely outstanding but a silly, silly price.

I haven't seen anything from Hunters yet that competes.

In Le Chameau, the neoprene ones are too warm for anything but sub-zero temperatures. The leather ones are perfect from late summer to normal winter conditions. I've stood in snow all day in them and been fine. For really Arctic conditions, the neoprene ones are warmer.

I obviously have sweaty feet!

My 16yo son (16 and size 11 feet) now uses the neoprene ones and hasn't complained of his feet getting too hot.

John Norris of Penrith quite often have Hunter seconds. The difference between these and full price is almost nothing. I got a pair for half price (neoprene) and I still can't see why they were seconds. Great value. My older pair are still going strong after 10 yrs too. Discovery 4 HSE

There seems to have been a drop in Hunter quality since they became a fashion brand and moved production from Dumfries to China (although I think Le Chameau are now made in Morocco).

I have the Aigle Parcous Vario boot and they're excellent. Regards

Hummmm. It does seem from what I've read hunters have gone down hill abit but not sure. I like the balmoral design and wonder if they are better built being a more expensive boot or will they only last a year like some have said. The LeCam ones look good but can't justify the price it's hard enough to do it with hunters. The muck boots look very good but seem to be a bit harder to find. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

Another vote for the Aigle Parcours Iso - good for walking around all day in winter (although too warm for me when it's above 10 degrees C)
