England 2002 Range Rover HSE 4.4 V8 Giverny Green
Giverny green paint colour

Hello to you all.
I have a 4.4 HSE first registered June 2002, so making it one of the first of the L322s. The colour is apparently Giverney Green, but the paint in the touch up kit I got from the local LR dealer comes out a bit "greener" than the paint on my car. My car is a bit lighter and more silvery by comparison and my attempts to diguise a couple of small scratches ended up looking awful. Scratch repairs by the previous owner are also obvious by the same slight difference in the colour of paint. My LR dealer says it should be the correct colour but it appears not to be the case. Can anyone please suggest what has gone wrong - was Giverny Green a a shade or two lighter on the very early L322s or is it just my eyesight that is failing me.
Thank you.

I have a Giverney Green car also which came with a Landrover original touch up paint kit. The touch up paint is nothing like the car, it's a far darker, greener colour.
Never used it again and wiped off the bits I had put on the car.
As you say the car is much lighter then the touch-up paint.
I was going to try a can of touch up from these people, used them before on other cars and the paints have been a really good match and a lot easier to apply.

Thank you to "nicedayforit" for the very quick reply. I have looked on the website you provided the link for and found Giverny Green very quickly - I will order some tomorrow and see how I get on. Many thanks.
Ian.

I would be interested to know in due course what you think of the colour match of the paint you buy. I still need to get some.

Paint does fade over time, it could be that your FFRR has been bleached by the sun

My l322 is also giverny green , will be interested to see how you guys get on. The colour has an ability to look different as the light changes.Definitely has a Greyish hue at times.

I agree the paint on all cars fades over the years, but the place it tends not to fade is on the inside face of doors where paint can be exposed as on a RR. I've looked at mine in daylight and to me there is no disernable difference between the outer surface of the car and door returns.
Having checked the LR touch up paint with the door returns, the colour is every bit as far out as it is on the outside of the car. This is with the top clear coat applied as well which tends to lighten paint usually.
I don't know what the answer is but I wouldn't buy the LR touch up paint to use on this particular paint colour.
Be interesting to see how Ian gets on.

Thank you to everyone who has added to this post - I have ordered a touch up kit from Paints4U as suggested by nicedayforit and will give it a try in the next week or so.
Regarding the suggestion of paint fading - quite right, but like nicedayforit I have also tried the Land Rover paint inside the door shuts and inside the lower tailgate and the difference is still very noticable - thank you for the suggestion though.
Ian

Comrades.
I am very pleased to report that the Giverny Green paint kit I bought from Paints4U.com (a small pack of touch up paint plus a small pack of clear laquer and some pointy spear things for applying the paint to scratches) arrived several days ago and the paint is a perfect match for my FFRR. I am very grateful for all the input on this subject and especially to "nicedayforit" for suggesting the supplier. This is surely what these forums are all about.
Thank you
Ian (Not Rupert - that is the name of my car - Rupert Range Rover the fourth because it is the fourth one I have owned)
