sounds like power is going to the control units [tick tock] but not reaching the lights...there must be a common circuit or fuse that is in that section of wiring that has failed...remember the lights are led's so 'might' not work unless some circuitry powers them...

note, there are two types of leds ,ones which plug in and work straight of [canbus or not] and the type that need circuitry to make them work... ... - .- -.

Good morning, we do lots of these "my lights dont work" after other companies have 2010 converted them... You can do lots of damage by trying to sort it yourself. Best finding an auto electrician who knows his stuff and pay them to rectify...

My opinion is that the converters who changed your car did not use the correct components. There's no difference between a "nice neat job" that goes up in flames and a bodge that does the same!

You cant skimp on safety! The wiring of these 2010 lamps costs time and money (so not always best to go cheap) I would imagine some or all electrical components the converters have installed have failed so need to be rectified properly (by a professional) as some of these components take very high current... in the wrong hands a recipe for FIRE!!!

Hi All,

Thanks for all the replies. I am going to have a proper look and check all the fuses etc, where is the LCM box?

Craig: Thanks for the advise, I am not going to touch anything i dont know about, there is too many electrics in this car to even think about starting to trial and error anything. I wish there was an auto electrician i could go to here that i could trust but i cant think of anyone or know of anyone that i trust.

ill revert back soon with better pictures.

what do you mean by link 3.4 ?? thanks

Guys I went out and checked fuses stated above and all look good to me. I used the rsw all comms tool and it showed me the following error in the light control module:

air suspension active/inactive
check coolant fault
left dip beam headlight defective

now i am not sure what this means, i dont have any faults show up anywhere in the car message centre etc or this maybe a list of previous faults as the car drives flawlessly. the left dip beam headlight defective is a cause for concern possibly.

however i am not that advanced with the rsw all comms tool either.

i cleared all these faults, turned everything off, played around with the lights etc etc plugged it all back up and the faults are not showing up again, not sure if it takes time or if these were old faults.

the whole conversion was done with these guys, might give them a call and get some information on why all the leds might not work, they might be able to shed some light on a particular area.

There are 3 fuses and 2 links feeding the lcm the links are in the fuse box and a real pain to get at but you can check continuity of the links by removing the panel under the glove box then you have accsess to the underneath of fuse box there you will find a black plastic cover and under that is the fixings for the links check across all the links i think 5 in all Porsche Cayenne

I think that because yours is an aftermarket wiring job then it would be wise to ring the install people and ask there advice. they will probably know exactly what the problem is. ... - .- -.

hi daveo, no not at all, me and car electronics are a big no no haha. i purchased the car 3 months ago and its been perfect. the person i purchased it from had the conversion done and had it for a year approx and diddnt state he had any problems and im sure if he did they would have showed up in my first few weeks of ownership. the only issue i have had with the rr is the air suspension but thats because my numpty brother left the tailgate open by accident one day and the tyre well got full of water and screwed the compressor which is now sorted.

as you asked i did connect disconnect the battery various times during fix of the air susp however i dont see how this would affect the lights. very odd indeed.

i am going to give them a call and see what they say, if they are not sure i will prob just give it to ES alternators in glasgow area as they seem to have good reviews on this forum too. if it was just the LED's on the headlamp i wouldnt have cared at all but as the front indicators are not working this makes me uneasy, im not a grandad driver at all but i dont like to be unsafe and careless and not having front indicators make me uneasy as i use them regularly/correctly.

Are you sure they ever worked ?

It's possible that whoever did the conversion missed the wiring - possibly needed to get some connectors so left that bit for later & forgot to come back to it ?

I would look for any connector on the back of the light init that does not look like it connects to a wire on the loom

There will be a replication box fitted (behind the headlamps usually) that turns the electrical output from your LCM into a useable power feed to run the led's. If the indicators still flash correctly on the dash display but not on the car then there is an issue with their box not your car or your lights. Simple... Go to a decent auto electrician and they will replace/repair the replication box... Probably the same unit that works the side lamps too but not the main headlamp powers so they will still work as expected... Hope this clears some of the confusion up...
