Folding Mirrors Mistery

Hi All,

Got a strange one here , went to close the mirrors in this morning using the button and only one folded.

So i pressed the button again to open it back out and the other one closed whilst the closed one opened!

Now i have a set of un synced wingmirrors.

I had to manually push the offending mirror back open in order to drive but its still happening.

Seems to be a lock of clicking and cracking noises also.

Does this mean another visit to the LR dealer or is it a easy home fix?

After having left my Sport in Long stay parking, they had manually pushed the mirrors in, resulting in nothing happening when I went to open them up, I had the push them out past the horrible cracking noise, hopefully it will be ok for you. Discovery 4 HSE

Did anybody solve this? I went to the dealer and their "fix" was to buy another mirror. Which to me, means spending almost $1,000 USD on it. Which is ridiculous and should be an easy fix I guess. 2008 Freelander 2 Td4 HSE Buckingham Blue

When one of the mirrrors gets hit it will close in as it does on mine and when that happens i press the button and it just moves back to the normal position so surley the answer is to force the offending mirror in to the closed position then see what happens when you press the button Idea

If you have to have the mirror replaced then you dont have anything to lose by trying it

And IF you did have to replace the mirror, maybe its cheaper to get one via a UK dealer and have it posted than buy it locally? Discovery 4 HSE

My car does this but haven't been in a situation where I need to fold the mirrors so will wait until the first service to get it rectified. Unlike Vogue Owner, I don't get any noises.

I'm sure there is something in the handbook about this. I'll have a dig when I can find it!

Some guy told me in another forum that double clicking the button should work, and that it actually says so in the manual, havenŽt tried it yet.

The thing is when I force either mirror to be in the normal position, and then click the button, one of the two mirrors will stay out, and the other will fold, depending on which one i force in the normal position. Yawn

I found a dealer in the US who will sell the mirror at about $250 if this doesnt work. IŽll try the double click, and let you know. 2008 Freelander 2 Td4 HSE Buckingham Blue

The double clicking worked. Not on the first try though, I had to double click it several times, but eventually one mirror folded back out and now I have both mirrors synched again. 2008 Freelander 2 Td4 HSE Buckingham Blue
