United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Santorini Black
54plate RR Vogue

Hello all,
I have been looking for a RR for a little while and found one over in Bedfordshire.
Drove up to take a look this morning and all looks good. Body work is in good
condition, all the electrics work inc the steering wheel motor.
So went for a test drive and the only thing I picked up on was a knock coming from the offside
front when turning. It was not constant but was pretty loud.
The dealer said he thought it was a drop-link? They had replaced the near-side drop-link the week
before.
He did say he would send it the local LR place to get it done.

Any thoughts what it could be?

Also if I may, where do you guys buy your parts from? It needs a couple of bits like the
centre console armrest needs replacing(the little bit that lifts to unlock it) and one of the side repeaters
has a crack in it and I would like to replace them with clear ones.

Thanks in advance

Lucky.

The knock could be a drop link but could also be a CV joint or even a wheel bearing. Make sure you get it sorted before you hand over your money. Smile

see what the end result is when you get the range back from the dealer, if the noise is gone then all is good.

The car has gone to MRH Land Rover specialist in Hertford and they reported that the knock was a split air bag on the front suspension?
Does anyone know this specialist and can anyone explain what that problem is?

Well how the heck was this not obvious when you viewed the vehicle. A split air bag would give you an air susp inactive message, the car would be down on that side, and the ride would be terrible. Its not recommend to stand the car on an empty air bag, let alone drive it. ( I am in the process of changing my front air suspension!)

Maybe time to walk away.....? .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

Thanks Joe,

When I test drove the car it was fine, no errors and the ride was good. I even checked the ride height going up and down, all ok. I might give them a call and ask what they found instead of the info being second hand.

Finally got hold of MRH and spoke to the guy working on the car. He said the knock is due to the ball joint and he will replace it tomorrow.
So it has nothing to do with the air bag, Salesmen!
