Slow \ Sticking suspension?

Had my wheels swapped today for 18"ers ready for winter. When the tyre guy? asked me to put the suspension up to full height and lock it.

I tried, the indicator flashed away for a good minute, after which point i turned the engine off and got out. Walked 5 paces from the car and it immediatly shot up to full height.

Any idea what the problem is (other than calling me a fatty?) __________________

Cool, guess you'd probably have an answer scarey - will keep an eye on it over the next couple of weeks.

Many thanks,

Ideally the car needs to be moving to make height changes. The suspension will resisit the movement of the car moving up and down, therefore requireing more preassure in the system to make the change.

The older Range Rovers P38 etc could do height changes whilst stationary, as the track (distance) between wheels does not change, earlier cars had beam axles not independent suspension.

I had it in park with the Handbrake on so that kind of makes sense. __________________
