If it's like mine on the 06 Model lift the bunnet and there are 3 screws at the top undo them and IIRC there are two clips at the bottom just watch how you release them , take it off either mask the area you do not want to spray on the grill , clean , prime it , spray it ... thanks mick,

i have tried some pray painting in the past and its one of those things ive never been able to do to my own satisfaction its really annoying lol

i have taken your advise and also read up on the halfords website, I would imagine a good clean of the part is first stage,

then prime it with something like the following

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/...yId_165495

I would be fine up to this stage, the stage i have trouble at is the actual spray paint stage, i understand it should be thin coats applied many times however do you really need to sand it down with wet and dry sand paper and if some which exact one would you use, i know you get different abbresive levels....

I would then use this java spray paint but i assume id need the lacquer too, the java black was a metallic paint was it not ?

thanks Smile

I think I only paid £50 to have mine done professionally - I had the side vents done at the same time which will have brought the price down a bit, but I know I would have had runs in it if I had tried

Trick with rattle cans is a bit of patience.

Once you realise that you dont get a perfect coating on the first pass, you'll do fine. Its all to easy to say ... oops missed a bit there, and go back and try and spray it immediately. At which point, you overload the surface with paint and get runs.

If you miss a bit, leave it to dry the right amount of time, then go over it again on the next pass and do the pass from a different angle to get the paint inthe right place.

Other quick tip, dont spray to close, you'll get runs too. that 30cm distance works for a reason.

You can get good results with rattle cans. I used to do my horse trailer wheels with them, likewise an old set of RR alloys came out well, but only once I learned to take my time and leave missed bits will next time. V8 or else ...
