torque converter

hi all, just had the torque replaced on my FFRR, thought i would share a few things with you all, it started with a very light shudder at around 30mph and you only would get it if you was very light on the throttle, this was the clutch trying to lock up in the converter, it was a bit like going over a cattle grid but not as bad, i caught it very early and was told it will get worse. but if left could and most likely would kill the box as well as it disintegrated. now if you have a warranty it will not cover it, they will ask for the converter to be cut open and send there man down who will look straight at the clutch and cal the "wear and tear card" 40,000 is not high mileage so how can it be w&t, the are sealed for life you may think, yes they agree its low mileage they say, then they put it down to a manufacture fault. you will get no further believe me.
so if you have one of those warranties check with them to see if they will cover it,
daveo

it does shudder after it has warmed up and and only on light throttle, but not all the time did yours make a noise or just the shudder

i appreciate the transfer and gear box needs to be removed and im now shopping around for a deal being as i am tight as. i am also hoping that it will be covered by the warrenty or at least some

did this afect the gear change as in better smoother etc once done

hi , no noise just lightly shuddered under light throttle, around 25 to 30 mph, after it was done the changers were smother and didn't change up and down so much. sorry to tell you but i don't think the warranty will cover it as they did the same to me, they let the garage strip it all down and then wanted the torque converter cut opened and because there was not broken parts they put it down to wear and tear.. hope this is not the case with yours...they then went on to say that oil and filter ect was not covered so i told them to poke it right up there hole...and paid for it my self..DON'T USE A SECOND HAND CONVERTER.. you could be back to were you started in 6 months...

oh! p.s. if they do cut it open and then say its were and tear you will pay more for the new unit as you don't have an exchange unit... V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

rr 4.4 suspected torque converter help !!

hi there im new to this site and not to sure how it works so hopefully am posting in the right place. Here goes ibought my rr 4.4 v8 recently and it vibrates when I get to 25 mph 1500 rpm [ cattlegrid effect ] it only happens at low throtle in third gear but disappears after 40 mph and doesn't happen in manual/sport ive read a lot of these threads and this sounds like torque converter failure ! all my gear changes are fine so im hoping ive caught this problem early. my car has down 125000 miles and I don't think the box has ever been touched before , could anyone tell me the process of how to pinpoint the exact problem pls or any other relevant info would be much appreciated thanks. 2003 range rover se autobiography 4.4 v8
