Search function

Before I post, I always check search to see if the answer is already there.. And more often than not, it is...... But..
It does my head in..
Tonight I was looking to see why my car does not have a service indicator. I found the answer many pages in. I had typed 'service indicator' and it was about 5 pages in, not bad, but why so many completely unrelated results before I found the result??
I then tried an experiment.... I noted the post title, the forum etc and tried again... It was 'No Service Indicator' in 'technical'... I filled out the fields in the search form and tried again, I tried a few different options but the best I could do was getting the result up half way down page 4... And that was puting in the exact title of the post...

What am I doing wrong? Is it my iPad? Whenever I see a newb posting a question that has been asked a dozen times I used to think they were filling up the forum with unnecessary posts, but maybe they have searched and found nothing.
I am not trying to be negative at all, but maybe sounding it, I just want to find things easier!
(I did read the recent post on search help)
Cheers. Previously..

Put the query in double quotes to search for an exact phrase.
Use boolean for specific words to include or exclude, e.g. + and -

Works well enough for me.

Have just updated the search engine on here, and added some help on that page so hopefully this will sort it for you and others Smile
