Makes me feel very uncomfortable, if its one thing I rely on when driving is the ability to regularly check that the coolant temperature is OK.

Jaguar XF doesn't have one. Not a real issue for me. SWMBO wouldn't know what it was so she would keep driving and I can smell boiling coolant so I can live without it. |

My Viano never had a temperature gauge, blooming annoying so I bought one from Auber Instruments in America and fitted it

My mates 106 diesel doesn't have one, just relies on a bulb to let you know you've cooked the engine.

all you need is a speedo and fuel gauge, dont need a rev counter [whats it for?] or a temp gauge...best to have warning lights in the background though.. ... - .- -.

I think having an instant MPG display on all cars would help reduce fuel consumption somewhat as people just by default try and make it as low as possible, and then start to realise that they can actually make it higher and better and thus improve their driving and reading the road ahead skills

i like the idea of an instant mpg readout, i wonder if the FFRR mpg readout frequency could be made to be more frequent.. ... - .- -.

Well this BMW 330d (without a temperature gauge) has this instant mpg dial thing, bloody distracting especially in traffic as it winged its way from one end of the range to the other either below 16mpg or above 80mpg, only really of use when doing a set speed - perhaps just a bit too sensitive. But this is my point - we know how we are driving on the Ayrton Senna < -- > Grandad scale, but we don't know if our engine is running at a happy temperature (above or below 90 degrees). Take Mick's thread last month about the temp gauge not quite reaching normal, this may just be a glitch, because it clears itself, but it could provide the indicator for a fault should one occur. Having just an overheat light doesn't cut it for me. Anyway, good news BMW gone and Audi A4 Cab back (with temp gauge ), thank God. Hang onto yours Antonia's Dad, you'll regret selling it . Evoque has a C O2 emissions graph and readout come up on the dash when the cruise control is engaged.......... lasts about 5 seconds and then disappears until the next time you resume or engage the cruise. Gimmick, I've switched it off, at least it can be disabled in the dash options! 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes |

I understand what you mean Joe, without the guage one couldnt tell if a thermostat was sticking a little, ie closed and getting a bit overhot then dropping, or sticking a little open and never ever getting to temp.
