Hypothetically speaking...........

I'm finding that RR ownership is a much more satsifying experience that I originally expected, so looking into the future, and once I no longer have a fuel card, I keep thinking about 2 possibilities :-

1. Keep the S/C and get an LPG conversion, or
2. Get rid and go down the diesel V8 route

Any thoughts on either option? Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Given you already have the S/C and love it I'd recommend getting it LPGd. That way you can keep the car you love but also not be stung too much with running costs. FFRR TD6 HSE

That's my initial thoughts, especially since I think I've got a good 'un (touch wood), but I just wonder wether Mr Chancellor will start to bump up the tax on LPG, making it less of a saving in years to come? Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Definitely go with the first option! Why would you want to go for an oil burner after enjoying the S/C? Only pain with the LPG'd S/C is the range, furthest I've seen is 280 miles, however you've always got petrol to fall back on, just dilutes the economy a bit! Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

Go with the LPG route but maybe get the toroidal tank and an underslung one on the passenger side a well if they will let you.

LPG tax worries have been around for years but it just goes up at the same rate as petrol and derv anyway.

Also take the chance to Decat it while your at it and enjoy the extra noise Very Happy

If you want to go for the TDV8 then maybe wait a bit longer and get the 4.4 Smile

Im guessing your fuel card is Business but you can get cheaper fuel using personal fuel cards these days too and with an SC you probably use the the 500litres pcm minimum requirement Smile

Also been weighing up the options al , but don't think i could go the LPG route having previously had the 3,0 FFRR and now the SC , i think i would like to try the 3.6 TDV8 rather than the 4.4's ……….

Saying that if the right 5.0 Litre FFRR came along …. Whistle Laughing Laughing

Having read a copy of the new MOT Inspection Manual for MOT's as from 1 Jan 2012 I would advise against cat removal on any spark ignition engine ie petrol, lpg etc as a cat not in place on a vehicle that was fitted with one at manufacture is a "fail".
As far as I can tell cat removal on diesels will still be ok.

IIRC LPG is exempt from this as part of the LPG encouragement as it allows the vehicle to recover the power that it loses from having LPG fitted Smile

There is no exemption for anything to do with LPG in the existing Mot Testers Manual, it actually states "This inspection applies to all petrol, diesel and gas powered vehicles".
Equally in the new Inspection Manual no cat on spark ignition engines, fail.
Simples Smile
