Navigation weekend - Kielder Forest - April 21/22nd

I know this is a long way in advance but…

Following on from the success of our previous forum events, I have now managed to get exclusive use of the forest for a navigation weekend, the weekend of April 21/22nd 2012. (You could not imaging the red tape, risk assessments I have had to fight through to get this sorted). We intend to use routes that are as non-damaging as possible and ideal for all levels of driving experience.

I hope to make this a weekend event which is almost entirely off road, using the private and normally closed tracks of Kielder forest where you get the chance to drive the tracks [s]and get lost[/s] and navigate yourself around looking for waypoints and answers to clues on the way.

Like other events I have run in the past, this is a fund raising event for the Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team and the cost will be £100 (TBC) which will include 2 days driving in the forest as well as camping on the Friday & /Saturday (and maybe Sunday) evenings . I need to check on Tin Tents but think that should also be ok. Camping will be near the castle which has decent toilet facilities close by but unfortunately no showers.

I have included above a signup which is just for interest and shows no commitment. If enough interest is shown I will make a full signup available.

Many thanks to Martin for allowing me to us the forum to publicise this event.

Count me in for now. So far in advance the only problem I can foresee is that it's my daughter's 16th birthday, so I may need to be errrr, available, as Dad's Cabs will presumably have some bookings... maybe we could have her party in a local hostelry... Laughing Graham

There are some hotels in the area for those wishing a little more comfort and expense.

With all the hype about the weather this winter, it will probably be snowing in April so a bit cold to lie under some canvas Confused

But surly the snow will give you the chance to soak in the built in hot tub to warm yourself up. FFRR do have hot tubs don't they Whistle

Yep. In the boot under the floor, where the spare is usually fitted. The compressor keeps it warm. Graham
