He would need both roof rails AND roof bars.

You can fit bars directly to the roof mounts of a FFRR, like these

http://www.roofbox.co.uk/scripts/rbvehsel4...odid=21534

thereby avoiding the need for LR's expensive roof rails and bars. Obviously they are not as flexible a solution, but at less than 1/3 of the price I would compromise Thumbs Up

There are three mounts on each side. where these can be mounted. But if it is a fullsize box it will not work. Because the box will then be mounted either to much to the front OR to much towards the rear. The bars in your link only works with a short box or a bike etc.
I have found out that the only way to mount a fullsize box and not having the roof rails, is using for example Thule roof bars. The kind that mounts inside of the doors.

And you canīt use the "first" and "third" mounting whole in the roof. They are simply to far apart for the mountingpositions in the box.

Hi Starman

I went and measured the roof mounts earlier and agree with you - either everything is mounted too far forwards or too far back if you are using a long box. I have a Kamei corvara 390 box which is 1.8 metres and that would overhang at the front or the rear if I were to use it with the bars I previously posted.

Did find these on ebay which may be of interest to you though...

Seem like a good price if you can get them delivered....

Simon
