Removing interior trim and repainting gloss black - Info req

I know I can't be the only one wishing thier car had piano black interior but can't seem to be able to search properly using the search function, am I doing something wrong, I type in piano black and get 1000's of topics.

Anyway back to topic, I have 2002 L322 Vogue with the fake walnut trim ( which I have never really liked) and sand and navy interior (dash top, bottom of door cards & piping navy, rest is sand). I would like to remove all of the walnut trim pieces + stereo/nav facia, heating control facias and any other brunel grey items, such as gear shift surround and door opener surrounds and give them to my paint shop to make them all gloss black.

I have removed in the past the 2 side vents, 2 lower wood surrounds by heater control and gear shift surrounds, which shouldn't be a problem. I have also found a how to on removing door cards, so they shouldn't be a problem.

I am unsure on how to remove the 2 surrounds either side of the head unit and also the head unit, it's self, but I presume this will be clearer when the dash is off.

Has anyone attempted this work and how long did it take for strip down and rebuild ?
I would really like to do this job as it will give me somthing different to look at as I have had the car 4 years now but I'm not sure if I can be bothered or if its the best use of my time.

i would love to hear from anyone who has attempted this job.

as you found your self wanting the black woodwork, it would be nice to do a little project on it and take some before and after photos for others that might want to do the same...there are a few people on ebay that paint the trims gloss black, V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Can i make the suggestion that you maybe go for something that is not done by Land Rover? I mean, if your going to all the bother of removing it all and having it all painted together. Why then not change it to something alittle different?

If you've got the wood, call a breaker and see if you can get the painted plastic bits off an SE. The wood ought to get you a fair bit on ebay- even if you don't like it.

Good point Steve, that said though make sure the accesory lights are the same in both vehicles if fitted...

We have had several kits wrapped, some sprayed and even done with WTP technology...

WTP?

I think its Wet Transfer printing - they can put any pattern/design onto some ridiculously complex pieces. Seen it used to put camouflage print onto rifles etc
