Went out around 8am and defrosted/de-iced the girlfriends car for her (yes aint i sweet).

While i was out i decided in my wisdom to jump into the RR and set the timer for the heater to come on around 8.50am so that on my way to the gym this morning my little pinkies wouldnt be cold.....

Anyway i unlock the RR to find that the drivers door wont open but the other doors do? Strange so i unlocked, locked then unlocked and still nothing.

Get in the car having manually unlocked the door to find the key wont turn and start the car , Clearly the batteries gone flat.

I did start the car when i first went out to it and it was fine.

Ive just hooked up a trickle charger to it in the hope it'll have enough power in the next few hours to start when i go to work.

Obviously this shouldnt happen , Any ideas why?

The car hasnt moved all weekend which i guess may not have helped. Fingers crossed it starts in an hour or so! TDV8 HST Sport **Current**

simple, your batteries goosed!

if it was ok before you set the pre heater then thats the reason. The FBH uses a fair bit if juice - enough to convert a bettery that would just do the job into one that won't even turn the engine. If you are using a FBH your battery has to be 100%. I even had this on a new RR, I got my battery changed after 12 months under warranty due to a dead cell. The only time a problem showed up was when I used the FBH.

RR batteries are .

They should have 2 on, like my old Amazon did.

I got a flat battery after cleaning the inside. Jump start of my lltr van did not work.

Landrover assistance came and had to use a big jump start pack. I now have one on order

Might have to invest in one of those!

That was my thourghts.

My local M. Mart did not have 1 yesturday when I went to get 1, on a VAT free invitation. Should have it by the end of the week though and then no more worries, hopefully.

Just thinking if I can fit another battery in somewhere.

it might not be crap batteries, its just there is a huge amount of load on them and systems keep running when the car is off and locked!

I would try and fit a slightly bigger battery if possible and you can squeeze it in. We frequently fit larger batteries to our tractors and the difference is quite marked - usually truck batteries as they have to be large to power all the ancillaries in the cab when the engine is off.

a L/R batery is about £100+- so these scope for others  onto no6 Range Rover

She's continued to start since the little episode. I am however pricing up a new battery as clearly it shouldnt have happened.

Same thing happened to me last year, got an new battery by Bull, cost was about £75. Not had problem since.

NBunney, surely you'd be better off getting the cheaper but better jumpstart kit as below as it can do diesel engines up to 4litres whereas the one you posted can only do diesel up to 3ltrs.
