Check Coolant Level :-(

Whilst driving to the dentist, the chap behind flashed, pulled along side and warned me that my car was dropping a considerable amount of water, just as he finished telling me, my car bonged to warn me to check the coolant level.

I'm now waiting to be recovered Sad

Mine did the same after a 400 mile drive to Aylesbury, pulled up outside the hotel when I got the warning, mine was a small split in the header tank to radiator hose, not a very big job, lets hope yours is just as minor. 2006 Mercedes CLS

The LR assist chap located the offending coolant pipe, and as the split was close to the edge he chopped about 20 mm off the end and reattached with a new jubilee clip. So I'm mobile again Very Happy

Obviously this is only a temporary fix, so I will get it booked in for a replacement, as long as its covered by the LR warranty.

The split hose is at the front of the engine in the V between the cylinder heads Big Cry The LR mechanic removed the thermostat housing to get to it, along with the multitude of pipes and electrical connectors that attach to the thermostat housing. The other end of the pipe heads further into the centre of the engine and disappears, so I've not idea what its connected to at the other end.

Having watched the thermostat be removed I would feel confident doing the job myself if I new where the other end went, from what we could see it looks like the supercharger will need to be removed to get to it.

Fair play to the LR assist chap who spent over 2.5 hours on my car Bow down

2006 Range Rover Autobiography Supercharged Zambezi Silver

Just checked my prinouts from Topix - there are only two hoses that run between the cylinder heads - these are the heater feed and return pipes, one pipe connects onto a connection on the thermostat housing and the other goes onto a connection on the block.

I reckon that these hoses will come as a full assembly (from memory, both of them have a combination of rubber and metal sections - these are the pipes that my LPG vapouriser is connected into.

You may be lucky and not have to remove the Supercharger, chargecoolers etc Stolen / Gone: 2006MY Supercharged LPG Autobiography - Zambezi Silver with Sand/Jet/Jet Oxford Leather.....

Looking at microcat it look like the pipe runs from the font of the engine to the back, it's the narrower 25mm pipe not the fat stumpy one that connects to the engine block.

If the supercharger needs to be removed, my fingers are well and truly crossed in the hope that it will be covered by the LR warranty.

Not going too far off topic but I've had to top mine up a couple of times recently, nothing drastic (the low coolant light hasn't come on) I noticed that when cold, it had dropped from the upper level to midway between upper and lower.

I may be paranoid, but it's defo lost a little bit Question Stolen / Gone: 2006MY Supercharged LPG Autobiography - Zambezi Silver with Sand/Jet/Jet Oxford Leather.....

If it's being topped up by exactly the same amount it could just be finding its level
