As title really. Found the plastic "thing" shown in the picture floating around in the spare wheel well. Marked Land Rover 7064552 and a material code. Any clues?

Interesting... Could it be a prop for the spare wheel cover? How long is it? (Ooh missus, titter ye not!) |

Ahhh. Good one Tug. I'm a pauper without the spare wheel straps. Fortunately I'm tall enough to lift the wheel out! (small mercies) |

Snap! I thought it was left from the previous owner and nearly threw mine away. ![]() It was only when I spotted the badge stamped on it, I left it! There is also a kind of small white tube with mine that looks similar to the breathalyser tube that the police stick on the machine. I have no idea what that is, or if that is anything to do with the car, so I have left that there as well!!! I did throw away the old toothbrush though that was under the spare wheel! ![]() |

I think you may find instructions on how to use it in the drivers hand-book under changing a wheel. |

Basically, that chocks the lower tailgate so it stays open, then, the spare wheel is on a couple of straps with a plastic handle, pull the handles, it lifts the spare wheel up, the handle the fits into the tail gate locking mechanism and suspends the spare wheel up so you can get it out easier. 2006 Mercedes CLS

Holy thread revival! As I found this thread when google searching the purpose of this part, I thought it'd be a good one to update with an image of how it works.

Think it is supposed to live in storage where the original Jack is, under the rubber band |

Dunno about other L322 but mine has decal with a series of graphics showing how to use the wheel lifter and how to use that prop - it's on the underside of the cover above the wheel. Ron B. VK2OTC
