iphone. You win. RATS!

Hell is about to freeze over! The man who refused to entertain Apple products (iphone in particular), is taking delivery of an iphone 4 tomorrow... hope it turns out to be a decent phone and have been of the wrong opinion all this time... just couldn't find a suitable replacement.

DAMN YOU CASTLEMARTIN - YOU DESTROY EVERY PHONE I DARE TAKE!!! Big Cry

I love my iPhone, and I wouldn't swap it for anything but a newer version (5), however if pushed I will admit to hoping that the iPhone 5 will be a lot more competent at:

1. Making and receiving calls
2. Enabling me to hear those i am calling and them to hear me whilst on a call
3. Having a battery that may last a whole day!

However the iPhone is pretty great that despite these failings people forgive it (most of the time)! Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

What kind of issues are you having regarding points 1 and 2?

I've had a few slight issues like freezing for 2 minutes, freezing then having to turn on and off, ending the call and the call screen won't disappear.

Nothing major. Still amazing at everything else.

Still seem like pretty shocking issues to me! Shocked

No other handset out there that seems to compete though... HTC Sensation is waaay too big!

Heard about iphone 5 due out mid October, but don't have the luxury of waiting for Apple to sort out the post-launch Gremlins. Sad

My HTC Hero didn't fare well in a warm wash cycle after a day on the hill... I know, I know, stupid boy. Rolling Eyes

Lol Nice! Thumbs Up

Seriously though, I'm a recent convert after one of my engineers wowed me with his 4 year old MacBook that has 5 hour battery life, doesn't crash or need defragmenting etc.

I'm so bored of tinkering with drivers to get everything to work properly because MS update has broken something else. I've got a Vaio TT with 256GB SSD and when it starts to get tired it will become a new MacBook Air.

Think MS have improved with the advent of Win7 but there's still a lot of frigging about

EDIT: should add I was MCSE+I so thanks for making me money by writing Censored protocol stacks MS!
Think if they weren't so afraid of intellectual property theft and didn't have dev teams working on tiny disparate patches of the OS and then stitching them together MS could smash it and make some amazing software /rant

I'm running MS Office for mac on the MacBook...it works so much better compared to the Windows environment. So I've also ditched the Dell laptop. Current MY2020

I've had a 2g, 3gs and the iphone4. They all were amazing at everything...except being a phone. I drop at least one call everyday. If two iphones are talking, it’s a guarantee Ill be talking to air at some point. The improvements of the iphone4 in battery life over my 3gs is worth every penny of the upgrade. For all the pro apple fans I have to suggest the airport, being able to stream music and youtube videos to my surround sound and TV is a party favorite. Thumbs Up

Mac convert

I'm also a Mac convert after 30 + years of PCs (CP/M, then DOS, Gem, Desqview and Windows...) would never go back. Bought an iMac in April and love it, also have an iPhone 4. Graham

I'm hearing this a lot. I spent the last couple of years as a Unix/Oracle admin by default for our network management systems played a lot over the last 5 years with various Linux distributions and still program Cisco routers via command line. All this (plus the obligatory free tech supp to friends and family) mean i just want computers to work- seamlessly and without intervention... Oh and I'm typing this on one of my iPhone 4s

Honestly, I spent the last 10 years rubbishing them, then I borrowed a Macbook Air from a colleague (needed a tiny laptop with great battery life for an event) and was just knocked out by the combination of usability and beautiful industrial design. Lovely thing.

I'm now a reformed Windows bigot, probably the worst sort... Rolling with laughter so, I;d recommend you give it a try. 10 year old Macs still going on eBay for hundreds of pounds. Tells you something. Graham
