Hmm so far the reviews on the A8 are good.

With the people who have owned an A8 (3.0) what was the average MPG?
the 3.0 tdi will average 34 mpg up to 39 mpg on motorway best to buy 2008 model year or newer

What about urban?
Was looking for a more economical car but dont want one that does 25mpg in town.
it never drops below 34 mpg that a mixture of town and motorway unto 39 mpg on a long run

What about strictly town. Or for example a 12 mile trip in town?

I have to say, since selling the RR, I'm absolutely smitten with this Merc. CLS.

It's effortless to drive, lots of mid range power, handles ridiculously well for the size and weight of the thing, see's 35mpg round town and 45mpg on a run, looks nice, nice interior, few toys to keep me occupied too.

Only problem is, it's in having the drivers side exhaust manifold replaced due to a blowing flexi joint, (Mercedes are having to order one from Germany and they haven't had any UK stock yet) and there's a glow plug fault, all the glow plugs work, but they suspect either wiring or the glow plug module to be at fault. Glow plug light stays on and it can take a while to start every now and again. Once sorted, it'll be 100% again.

Not bad for a 5 y/o car with 111k on the clock. 2006 Mercedes CLS
1991 Retro-style Mini
But really finding it hard to fight the urge for a S/C...

I always had 7 series before the Range Rover, and whilst they are excellent cars, that is basically it. Now I've had a Range Rover, I don't want a car.

Ultimately, no matter how good an A8, or Merc CLS, or 7 Series is as a car, it's still just a car, which is something I would never say about the Range Rover!

Just my humble opinion! Thumbs Up Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

Almost went and bought a 03 Bentley Arnage from London the other week Whistle

Until my friend told me how much his friend pays for services and all parts etc. Of course you could take it to your local garage for a service but would be harder to sell on. He had to pay something like 3,000 for a new radio Shocked

Probably a top spec VW Toureg or Audi Q8, agree that having an FFRR is better than having a "car", so would need something similar, otherwise its a Lotus or a Porsche. We love our Audi A4 Cab. .
