iphone back up problem

any iphone clever peeps out there that can tell me why ,when i did a 'backup restore' i lost all my contacts..

You need to sync them first! Check out addressbook if you're on a mac or outlook/windows contacts or whichever desktop program you have chosen to sync contacts with.

If you don't find them, try an earlier backup if you have one!

EDIT: There's a program that accesses the backup file and can extract contacts from that if you have them inside! 2000 BMW M5, Avus Blue/LeMans Leather Interior

@3r10, whats teh name of this program please.

@mick, storey is i brought an iphone 4 and done a restore to that , worked fine with contacts and layout etc as before..decided i didnt want the iphone4 so i tried to restore to my 3gs which was reset to factory ,this is when i could get my apps on but no contacts.

So when you connect to your iTunes account does it give you the option to restore from a previous back up or phone plus trying to do this via memory Stan there is a link on the iTunes page of your account that says devices if you have previously done a backup click on devices and highlight your 3GS phone and do the back up from there

Sorry sending this via my ip4 if I was at my mac I could have given you better detail

i know what you mean mick, right click on the iphone label on the left and click restore from backup...done that and click every sync button i can find..still no contacts or messages..to tired now to do this , i'll leave it till morning,cheers mate.

you need to plug your flux copasitor in to your heflon drive and that should put your phone in hyper speed that will open a black hole and vola.....you'll have contacts Cool "RANGEISM WILL NOT BE TOLERATED"

after putting in my contacts manually ,i found that i had changed a default folder to another one and there they were..

problem solved and thanks to all the help.
