Plus there's the possibility of it becoming one of those fragile modified cars that you spend more time sorting niggling issues rather than enjoying driving it.

540i's and 4.4i, X5's with supercharged M62's have been going strong! No problem whatsoever with the gearbox. ESS tuning is one of the most known, respected and reliable supercharger installers on the BMW world, sot I would expect better reliability than an early Jag supercharged engine! I for myself have considered doing this job in the near future, as I want to buy two cars at the same time and it would be much cheaper going the pre-facelift route than the Supercharged version! I know most of you in this forum are purists, but I am waiting like a mad kid for this! If anything goes well, robbo770 might have one of the fastest Range Rovers out there! Definitively faster than a 4.2 SC! 2000 BMW M5, Avus Blue/LeMans Leather Interior 2006 Range Rover Westminster Java Black |

No way would I spend that on supercharging - its a no brainer. S/H value will be pants. If he wants to keep the car it would be cheaper to turbocharge it - similar results and they are both exactly the same in that they use means of forced induction. One uses engine revs the other exhaust pressure to operate. The only down side can be lag with a turbo, but that can now be virtually extinguished. |

you may be on to something there vogue but then again theres a lot of work that will need to go into turbo charging i.e new fabricated manifold ....may end up costing around the same "RANGEISM WILL NOT BE TOLERATED"

Is the 4.4 a Jag or a BMW engine? LR fitted a supercharger to the 4.4V8 RRS with the Jaguar 4.4 and had to insert liners in the cylinders back down to give it 4.2l because they couldn't get any length of service out of the engines due to the thin casting between the cylinders. About 6 were built, one of them ended up at LRE Dunkeld but was supposed to have gone into the crusher.

Tim, the pre facelift 4.4's are BMW engines, the 2006 facelift are Jag engined, and yes you are 100% right re the liners 4.4 down to 4.2 on the jag supercharged |

They also did a 4.4 Jag engine just to confuse matters. The AJ-V8 which was the 4.4 petrol option on the facelift/touch screen cars between 2005/6 to 2009 2006 Mercedes CLS 1991 Retro-style Mini But really finding it hard to fight the urge for a S/C... |
