Door Locks and SatNav Issue

Hi this is my first post , I have had my 02 Range Rover Vogue since January and a few months my door handle cable snapped on the drivers door , I purchased one and replaced it but the central locking wouldn't open/close this door, but was fine using the normal key and all the rest were opening and closing with the key . A few weeks back the back passenger stopped opening and closing with the key as well and we have to open the door from the inside . Does anyone have any ideas , I have tried resetting the keys but this doesn't appear to make any difference . I have also had another problem which is the sat/nav stereo is switching itself off and on , sometimes no screen with sound , sometimes nothing at all and sometimes the screen comes on a different colour with no sound .

Thanks Neil

Have you checked your spare wheel well for water? Any water in that area means your nav unit may have got wet at some point. Are you still running the old Mk3 nav or have you done the mk4 upgrade?

Do you leave the A/C on all the time? The climate control is designed to remove excess moisture from the air - this protects all of the electronic modules... Without it, electrical gremlins will ensue. On a humid day the system can remove about 1L of water per hour that would otherwise settle on any cold surface.

As for your door issue, I've found removing and re-fitting the door card can help as it re-syncs the door modules. Also with the door card off, but still plugged in, see if the lock works then? The remote locking is very sensitive to anything touching the sill lock rod. It tries to lock but then bounces back.

It tends to make its way in around the near side rear window due to a poor seal.

LR's fix is rather shocking. Do a search Smile

In the mean time, leave your ac on to ensure everything dries out!

Got the water leak fixed it was coming from the boot seal and running down the pillar , new seal fixed it also fitted the water shedder/bag. The front door is now fixed not sure how but had the door card off and was looking for anything obvious put the door back together and it started opening and closing with the key .

The one problem I have left is the rear passenger door is not opening with the keyfob but when its open it shuts with the keyfob has anyone any ideas what to have a look for.

Cheers Neil
