Manual gear change - clunk

When the box is in manual, (been trying to play with the fuel figures) it changes down by itself as we know as you slow down. As mine selects 2nd from 3rd at a standstill i get a clunk. I tried several times and 3 of 5 times it clunks.
This doesn't happen when D is selected.
Any thoughts?

Could another TDV8 3.6 owner try this and see if you have the same issue?

Being simple, how will this help? The gear lever position isn't moving, the box changes itself when i come to rest, with electrical wizardry stuff Question
