French autoroutes - Liber-T transponder

Hi All,

Before embarking on my trip to the south of France, I bought a Liber-t from sanef tolling (a uk company), that let's you use the Liber-t lanes on the French auto routes, It feels great to speed past the queue of numptys waiting in the nomal toll booth lanes Very Happy

I've just received an email from Sanef Tolling which includes a link to recommend a friend, and we both get 5 euros off the setup fee, so if any one is thinking of getting one of these, use the link below, and I will donate my 5 euros to the site.

The transponder arrived the following day, and you pay by direct debit Thumbs Up

Cheers,

Hey Justin, does it save money as well as time? We're off to France (Vannes, South Brittany) and seems like a good idea.

It offers a good exchange rate, but that's the only saving, but has a service charge of 5 euro per month that you use it up to a Max of 10 euros per year.

It's mainly about the convenience, and the smug feeling you get passing all the queues.

I've got one - they are brilliant - no stopping to get tickets or to pay, I've never had to queue since getting one. THe real bonus is that my wife can sleep through, I don't need to wake her every time, so less ear ache for me Very Happy

Just to check, no issues with a heated front screen blocking the signal ??

Nope, it works fine with the heated screen.

One thing to note, the liber-t lanes have a 2M height restriction, so your still going to have to queue in the normal lanes if you're towing a caravan.

At peak times, there are some 'normal' lanes that only take the Liber-t passes.

Either way you're pretty much guaranteed a shorter queue and you don't have to open your window / wake up your passenger.

I've got a Liber-T Balade transponder too - they work fine in the FF (attached to the windscreen behind the rear view mirror for us) - it just took us a few times to get used to slowing down and nervously waiting for the beep from the transponder as you hurtle towards the barrier (but the barrier goes up very quickly after that) !

The non stop transponder lanes are on the left and marked with orange chevrons (the fastest on the far left is under 2m, the next fastest has no height restriction).

If you use the French Sanef site, they only charge 2 Euros per month that you use them and it bills once at the end of the month to my credit card (we bought the transponder before the UK website was up & running).
