L322 Range Rover alarm problem.

I recently had my L322 Range Rover on a holiday over to Europe and since I have returned, I am having a problem with the alarm going off.

We travelled by ferry and on the return journey, the weather was awful and the boat was being thrown about on some really big swells.

When we went to depart the boat in the morning, the car wouldn't start as the battery was flat. This made me think that the alarm may have been going off all night (even though I'm sure that I pressed the button on the key fob twice to disable the tilt sensors).

Since I have returned the alarm goes off sometime (quite a lot) when the car is locked. Sometime it goes off as soon as it's locked and other times it waits for a number of hours. Sometimes it's fine.

It this likely to be a problem with the tilt sensor ? Have it's settings been messed up with the boat trip ?

Most importantly, how do I fix it !

Thanks in advance.

I was one of about 5 last week, now I'm a veteran Laughing

If it helps, the bonnet switch is located at the far left side, just pull the wire out and see what happens.

Pressing the button twice to disable the tilt sensor doesn't disable the bonnet sensor, I'd imagine the alarm was preventing the car from sleeping thus draining the battery, seems security must have priority over protecting a low battery I guess.

Good luck Thumbs Up

Also disconect your battery and give it a good charge as in the car the alternator will only charge to around 80% onto no6 Range Rover

I think I might need a new switch, I can hear the alarm going off right now. Unless of course someone is stealing it - If so I hope they have deep pockets Rolling with laughter Geoff

Well, the problem seems to have been sorted. I dug out the WD40 and gave the bonnet sensor a good spray and worked the switch up and down quite a few times.

That was last week and the alarm hasn't gone off since......

Thanks for the comments.

I had my sensor replaced by the dealer and bonnet alignment adjusted, but still had the problem.
A return trip to the dealer and they fitted a wheel balencing weight above the sensor on the bonnet - the extra couple of mm travel seems to have cured the problem for me - which in my case looked heat/sunlight related.

Don't ask for pictures!
