Did land rover kill my gearbox? I think so.....

Long story short, wagon goes in to get new airbag for lumbar support, I ask the service sept of my local LR dealer to investigate a gearbox issue, there have been a few bumpy changes and some transmission faults where the gears stick (cured by stopping and restarting the engine) very intermittent, can anything be done?
Car is delivered back to me with a completely k ackered gearbox, bumps on every gear change, must have been noticed by the delivery driver but nothing mentioned, so back I go to LR. And breathe. Service manager confirms that they reset the gearbox to get rid of the bumping and that a total failure has never happened before! Here's the good bit; since the electronic readout shows that a fault appeared in the gearbox a thousand miles back, they claim no responsibility for the coincidental total failure of the gearbox,
What do you reckon? Anyone with gearbox experience know about this? Am I rightly or wrongly blaming them for this?
