Looking at some FFRR some color code their pillars. something that is really not to my taste at all but may mean a cheaper vehicle as it seems to put others off.

My question is if i get one is it hard to remove the paint and put them back to standard or is it better to get all the pillars painted black? non-matt-black would be my preference as it would give the car a more new look but it may be to shiney and add to the expense. would £400 cover the cost of undo-ing such vandalism??

Also has anyone retrofitted RSE?

Hardly any FFRR come with this option as most are vogues not not vogue se's so am considering downing my spec and just getting the bits or getting a cheap after market type system for the kids, if i go this way it would be units that can easily come out, IE hanging units. does anyone use/reccomend such units?

I've swithered doing this on occasions, but have resisted so far. What I do know is that you can buy the rear D pillar covers as a spare part, so you could buy a pair, paint them and keep the originals for selling........ Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

How about some oracal vinyl? You can easily remove it in case you don't like the look. Santorini Black RR Vogue 4.4 TDV8

You could try a satin black as that is a good compromise from the Matt without being too shiny. You can get a big can in halfords for about seven quid and that would be enough for four pillars.

I did this to my wifes 2008 D3 and it wasn't that difficult, the problem was sourcing the right parts at a sensible price and then to try and source the wiring loom which cannot be purchased separately leaving just the breakers yard as an option.

To do this in a FFRR is pretty much the same so reading this should give you a good insight into whats involved and whether you fancy having a go. I doubt it will be the cost that stops you as for me the nett cost was far less than any after market solution.

One last piece of advice/information - when sourcing my replacement FFRR recently I made sure it already had factory RSE fitted read into that what you will

Tried sourcing a decent FFRR and not silly money with RSE but they are thin on the ground :(

many thanks for this everyone as i will be reading up that link soon and seeing what can be done but think it will be a hang over the rear headrest type option :(
