United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Vogue SE Supercharged Java Black
Preparing the FFRR for driving in France.

Hi All,

I'm off to france next week with the FFRR for our summer holiday, can I switch the beam direction myself, or does this require a trip to the dealers? My car is a 2006 SC with adaptive head lamps.

Also can I get a bulb kit from halfords, as the rear bulbs look a little unusual (clear with blue tinge)

Thanks,

Justin

I took mine straight from the UK to France, no bulb change, but inside the headlight unit on the 2003 model, just to the side where the plug attaches to the bulb, there is a small white plastic lever, you move that down or up I can't remember which direction and it sets the direction of the headlights for driving on the opposite side of the road.

Make sure you have a high viz vest in the drivers door pocket and a warning triangle, it's the law now. You can buy the kits in most supermarkets over here now. Thumbs Up

as deep down says, just switch the lever..[in the handbook justin Thumbs Up ]

you do need a bulb set and high viz jackets for all occupants and they must be in the car and not in the boot...

the brake lights are leds [afaik] so just get the common sidelight etc bulbs..

have a nice trip mate and dont forget the pics when you get stopped by the gendarmes for speeding.. Wink

Sorry for the terrible description, hopefully this will make more sense.

The supercharged stop and tail lights are clear as are the bulbs, but when the rear lamps are lit they produce red light, it looks like its the bulb that produces the colour and not the clear lamp lens.

When the lights are off, the bulb has a slight blue tinge to it, which I assume is the bulb coating which turns the lamp colour red when lit.

Here's a pic to show what I'm talking about.

Remember your driving licence, mot cert, insurance and v5. It's a 50 Euro fine for each one missing if you get pulled over.

You can pick up the blue/silver bulbs on eBay easily enough - the RR are blue, some others are more silver - I also changed the front indicators on my old one to silver.
Hi viz jackets for all occupants as mentioned
You also need a warning triangle - again to hand & not with the spare if the boot is loaded
I also carry a fire extinguisher and first aid kit, but I think they are just recomendations & not legally required.

I'm not sure what the score is with LED's - I just carry a spare xenon & a fog light bulb, but could be an interesting conversation trying to explain I suppose. Ebay - solves all your problems Very Happy
