If it's a 4.4, it's not a P38 (either 4.0 or 4.6) and if it were a P38, this wouldn't be the correct forum . The P38 was <2002, the L322 or LM 2002 and after.
That said, regardless of which RR, any unnatural movement in the suspension/steering should def be checked asap regardless of the vehicle type. The suspensions in the solid axle RR's (P38 and earlier) are prone to fore/aft movement when the control arm bushings wear - manifests itself as wandering. You can drive for a while like this w/o great probs, but I'd make sure of what it is at any rate. And if it is an L322, I'd have it looked at quick.
