New car has arrived...

So I finally did it, I've bought a Merc. CLS.

Only 1 pic I have of it at the minute....

All in all, I'm really happy with the car, everything I wanted in one, plus it managed 45mpg on the journey home.

Best thing about the day though, I bought the car from a Lotus, Aston Martin & Morgan main dealer, so was given a tour of the workshop as they're an Aston heritage centre so carry out restorations.

First thing you see when you go into the garage is this... £275k worth!

Into the workshop, there were loads of Astons, including a very nice V12 Vantage and then this, an actual Bond car...

Had a bloke out looking at it this morning, he said he viewed an HSE yesterday that had Vogue spec, (probably just sat nav) and had another to go and see this afternoon, he did mention mine was the more expensive of the 3 but he really couldn't fault it, especially when I told him I didn't even wash it before he came.

He seemed impressed by it so I'm just waiting to see if he rings back for a 2nd viewing. Fingers crossed he does as he's quite local.

Back to the new car though, with the weather being good today, I set about cleaning it to my standards.

Quick snow foam, (most of it had ran off by the time I got the camera out)

After that, quick hand wash, wheels and tyres scrubbed.

Engine bay cleaned, just needed a quick wipe over all the plastics.

The paintwork is in really good nick, there's stone chips on the plastic film stuff on the back door and the on both sills, but it's done 109k so it's to be expected, you can't really notice it.

So with the car clean, gave it a quick wax until I can get the machine polish over it

Before I waxed it, I had a bit of debadging to do, I wasn't keen on all the badges so whipped them off, looks a lot smoother and cleaner without them I reckon

Moving to inside, it just needed a quick hoover, all the leather is in reall good condition, didn't even need cleaning, but I'll give it a quick once over with the Gliptone to keep it soft

I'm really happy with it and I'm glad I didn't go for a black or silver one, I really love the colour when the sun's on it, I think it's possibly the best colour combo for a CLS, I saw an A class in a similar colour and it looked Censored so had my doubts about this one. 2006 Mercedes CLS

I ran 2007MY CLS for 24 months, 320CDI, it ran really sweetly, never had any problems, a fine engine. I had a Brabus Chip inserted under the bonnet by the dealer and it made a big difference with a few extra horses.

Keep an eye on the oil levels, mine drank a lot!

Enjoy and thanks for the photos. Current MY2020

The oil level was the one thing I forgot to check, I'll keep an eye on it, it's due a service so going to book it in for next week some time to be on the safe side.

I had looked at a Brabus chip on ebay too, but I want to have it given a quick once over before I even look at getting it mapped, they must have a lot of mid range shove when they are mapped, it's impressive as it is at the minute. Overtaking is a joy. 2006 Mercedes CLS

Congrats on the CLS! I used to have a CLS350 with an AMG bodykit for a short period of time, and loved that car! Pity it was dark red and I didn't quite like the color, so my aunt ended with it! Once again congrats! Thumbs Up 2000 BMW M5, Avus Blue/LeMans Leather Interior

I believe they are almost exactly the same length. Just a few cm in it.

Thanks, all I used was magifoam snow foam, then a quick hand wash with Meguiars hyper wash, then rinsed and sprayed over with some meg's last touch, the dried and 1 coat of Poorboys Natty's paste wax.

I didn't really put much effort in it to be honest, I think it's a testament to how good the paint finish is already. 2006 Mercedes CLS
