Yes, I had a 40 minute test drive in a Nissan GT-R. The 11 year model they had on Top Gear.

Disagree, I think you're confusing feedback with ability. The downside is that because they are so capable they don't feel exciting going slowly as it is all so easy for the car (same for many properly quick modern cars). Granted it won't feel as connected as a Caterham (what will?), but steering feedback etc. is pretty good in my experience (and most professional reviewers agree). The other thing is that with VDC off, there are no electronics to save you ... |

Sorry disagree kept mine 4 mths found the drive very much disconnected and 2 very well known PRO ( Ex race and current race drivers ) felt the same. Gives awesome bang for your buck , I hope by reviewers you are not talking about Top Fing gear by the way LOL.

No, not talking about Top Gear - evo, for example, found it far more involving than a V10 R8 or 997TT (no surprise there). We'll have to disagree on that aspect.

I like top gear, but had to agree with what evo said about the XKR review: -
I like both cars, but to be fair the GTR is much better value, but compared to the Mercedes SL the Jag is far better.
I have a VX220 turbo and a friend of mine wants a GTR. I don't doubt the GTR would be far quicker, but I don't think he'd have any more fun in it, and the vx220 is cheap to run. |

Yes, but if you want to talk "feel of driving" then it pretty much rules out any expensive car IMO. A light/cheap car like the VX220 or many old non-electronic cars feels more raw and give more feel per £, although they are slower. The GTR is fantastically fast and capable and will flatter any driver. But it does make you feel that you'll run out of ability before it does. (to the average decent driver) Does that remove a bit of the raw driving experience? Yes. But you can be a bit of a spanner and if a Lambo pulls up next to you it'll still get it's rear end smacked. That's what the amazing technology in the GTR is all about to me. It's a high tech Nissan that spanks supercars. That's why I admire it. |
