Folks,

The rubber on the "aerofoil/spoiler" on my driver side wiper has started to split and is dragging across the screen. I had a (very) quick play to see if i could get it off, assuming it would be as easy as changing the wiper blade, but couldn't see any way other than brute force and ripping it off.

I've just checked microcat and it would appear that this is supplied in one piece along with the arm and pivot shaft - PN#LR015243 (£40+VAT!!!) and cannot be purchased as a standalone item from LR . (NOTE LR015243 replaces the old supersceded part number DKB000180PMD, which retailed about £10 cheaper!!!)

Anyone know if its possible to replace just the aerofoil, or do i really need a whole new arm just for the sake of a bit of rubber?

If so, the problem then becomes twice as bad - one new arm and one 4 year old arm would look pretty stupid and in reality i'd look to replace both - so the cost for replacing a tiny stupid bit of rubber instantly becomes £80 + VAT!!! Surely LR considered this in their design - it is a consumable after all....

I could just rip the rubber off, but then knowing my luck, a small stone would get jammed in ther and wreck my screen!

Any ideas????

I've just had a look at mine and haven't got a clue what you mean.

At first I thought you meant the rubber of the wiper blade but having re-read your post I don't think that's what you are talking about.

The aerofoil on mine has no rubber on it at all that I can see so either they changed the design at some point or mine has had the rubber completely removed. Can you just take the rubber off yours?

I would just take the rubber spoiler off, won't make a lot of difference to the wiper performance unless you like to get about rather quickly.

I know what you mean. I have about 2 inches of loose rubber dangling from the spoiler on my driver side wiper. At the moment it's just a minor irritant but I assume it will get worse. From inside it looks like the wiper rubber is split but it's just a strip of rubber stuck to the spoiler. No longer FF owner but still interested. Present car Jaguar XE

Yep, that's the bit. Just had a better look and the spoiler is an integral piece with the arm.

I had the same - just pulled it off and it works fine without it ! On my old 1992 W140 Mercedes S Class the wiper blade alone was £115 - so I think £80 for the lot is a good price
