Starting a business???

Hi Guys,
I have very little to no experience about starting a business from scratch. I never did business studies at school so really an clueless to this. I've had an idea for a relatively simple business bout wouldn't know where to start in even thinking about turning it into a reality. Does anyone have any pointers or some simple books that could at least get my head into a business frame? I know at some point i would a business plan etc to gain funds etc but wouldn't know where to start. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The simpler the better for now.
Thanks

Have you got a Business Gateway or other Govt agency down where you are as they give you help advice and can also help you to apply for specific grants if needed ====================================

Ireland 2008 Range Rover HSE TDV8 Java Black

Hi Rob

Theres not that many good books out there. However what I would highly recommend is a website called businessballs.com it covers everything you need to know such as business plans, presentations SWOT etc. I often use it as a reference point for various things and have done over the years. Hope that helps.
I would also believe that you do not need that much information to start with just a good accountant and maybe a bit of legal advice. If you are passionate enough about what you want to achieve in business the rest will follow.

I should add in Ireland we have Enterprise boards one in each county that offer a free mentoring service to people wanting to open a new business and in some cases even a grant if the idea is worth pursuing. You must have something similar if not better in the UK?
