Portugal 2002 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Java Black
What tire?

My 2002TD6 Vogue, came with Goodyear Wrangler 255 60 r18s.I find the dry grip very good, no road noise, but I haven't pushed them in the wet due to worn treads, On reading reviews of owners, a lot complained of rapid tread wear and 3 reported on bursting sidewalls, on heavier trucks. On my RR Classic(1994)TDi, I have Michelin Latitudes, and I find them excellent for farm tracks as well as highway driving. My dealer here, tells me that these are ending production now and a new tire will appear shortly, for HEAVIER SUVs.(Any coincidence here with the above Wrangler sidewall breaks? ). My Defender ,TD5 2001, has Michelin XPCs and I find this an excellent all rounder.great adhesion wet or dry and no road noise on tarmac(or am I deafened by the engine roar? )Handles steep wet grassy slopes with ease. Are these XPCs available in sizes for FFRRs? Has anyone tried them on the FFRR?. I don't have to cope with snow, but ice is common here as I am close to the tallest mountain in Portugal, at 2000 meters. We also have short heavy rainfalls and road infrastructure for dealing with sudden big amounts of water are minimal.
I haven't heard of Coopers here in Portugal.(Some of the tarred roads in my area should be used by the tire guys as test beds for their products). Thanks for any advice---Tires are EXPENSIVE items!

Tire choices

Thanks Alistair---a great link and confirms all my thoughts on the tire question. I think Michelins are unbeatable, if you are willing to fork out the dough to buy them.
