I called a couple of alternative dealers to check how LR Cambridge's price faired against the competition.
The first dealer insisted my number plate was not registered on the DVLA, I pointed out that google has no trouble finding it, so perhaps their database needs updating, the lady then asked to take some details to help identify the car.
Dealer - what car is it?
Me - 2006 4.2 supercharged Range Rover,
Dealer - oh thats a Range Rover sport.
Me - No it's a range rover!
Dealer - is that manual or automatic?
My alarm bells started to ring.
Me - Auto
Dealer - Petrol or Diesel?
I'm thinking there's no way they're touching my car
Me - Petrol, can you give me a price for an inspection 2.
Dealer - it needs an oil service it will be...
Me - can you give me a price for an inspection 2
Dealer - i cant unless we see the car as it may need additional work depending on how many services it has had.
Me - Can you give me the price of bog standard inspection 2.
Dealer - £209,
Me - does that include pollen and air filter?
Dealer - no thats a bog standard inspection 2 like you asked.
Where do they find these people?
Guy Salmon Sheffield (who I bought the car from)were excellent as expected and advised that it would be £469 in Sheffield, but warned that it's likely to cost more at Cambridge as the labour rates are likely to be higher.
The car is now booked into Cambridge LR for this Thursday, £369 with me supplying the oil, they will also sort my stuck locking wheel nut at the same time.
