Re: Difference between a Vogue SE & Autobiography

Depends what Model Year.

Up until 2009MY, Autobiography was a custom vehicle range and a special paint job would mean it would go through the Autobiography division but have very little else. Up until then a Vogue SE came pretty much full specification.

After 2009MY, Vogue SE sat below Autobiography which joined the main model lineup and is now the highest specification (excluding special editions etc). The Autobiography now has more standard items e.g. dual view, adaptive headlamps etc. It also has some exclusive standard equipment which cannot be specified on a Vogue SE e.g. leather door cards, console area and headlining with rear vanity mirrors.

If the vehicle you are looking at is before 2009MY, your dealer is telling you the right thing (on the whole). Otherwise he isn't!!!

The trim levels and cost levels are as follows:

SE - Eventually dropped
HSE
Vogue
Vogue SE - Introduced a little later
Autobiography - This has always been the top spec, in the early days the basic car was a Vogue with Extra's added to that. Later it was a Vogue SE with Extras added.

So in terms of which will be the higher spec - the Autobiography will be the higher spec and will have cost 10-100K more depending on options.

Main dealer or independent?
Doesn't sound right to me.

Main dealer is trying to fob you off - walk away.

I agree.
If they are prepared to lie about that to sell you a car, will you ever believe them about anything else?

The only way it could possibly be better if the particular SE they have offered you has every option going.

Even then, you still won't have the full leather headlining etc & rear vanity mirrors.

But if the SE offered has RSE, reclining rears, steps, privacy, wheel options, adaptive headlights, noble styling, 4 zoneclimate , then they could argue it is better spec.
If they are just referring standard SE to standard AutoB, then they are muppets ! laugh & find another dealer Mad

thanks guys, I've walked away...but still in the hunt.

another dealer said if you buy a new one, 60% deposit, nothing to pay for 2 years, then hand the car back after 2 years or buy outright - if you buy outright after two years the total money spend is 2k cheaper than buying the car outright from new???? how can that work???

Incentives from Land Rover probably as it's done through Land Rover Finance.

That must be that particular dealer as normally it's just standard list price you pay when taking that offer. 0% finance for 2 years with a 50 or 60% deposit. If you hand back after 2 years then you'd basically paid about 45 to 50K for the rental ! You could lease one for less than that.......

I'm positive you'd be able to buy one outright for quite a bit less than list price these days, so you'll save a few more thou if you go that way.

That's because they set the future value at 2 years old low, very low.
This is to make sure they are covered if prices crash like in 2008, and if they don't it ensures you have equity in the car after two years. So handing it back costs you £££ and they earn £££. So unless you are loopy pay the remaining balance and buy it.
