New towbar issue

I continue finding problems on my lovely L405 no one else seem to have... Laughing

I of course have a deployable towbar, which deploys and folds fine but when folded I get an alarm, red light flashing and constant beep for a minute or two. The beep comes back when I start or stop the engine whenever the towbar is stowed.

When it is deployed all works fine and I get the double beep confirmation when it is down.
Doing a reset does not help and according and the service manual just says; Contact support...

I'm thinking it could be the control module but the specific issue isn't actually listed on the Q602.

Did anyone have the same issue or know of a fix?

No and No to your questions, but....

Sounds to me like its not fully stowing and there's a sensor somewhere saying its "unsafe". Given how similar it all seems to deployable step problems I'd suggest deploying it, spraying anything that moves with your light oil of choice (I use a +PTFE All in One). And then try to stow it but with manual assistance - laying on your back and pushing hard with either your hand or foot. Working it like that 3 or 4 times should get it to fully retract. Alternatively look for the sensor/microswitch/whatever detects the movement and ensure its sensing/switching. Good luck! Mike - MPx

Thanks Mike,

I was thinking the same about a sensor but as I understand it there are no sensors only circuit on the drive motor sensing its state. If the circuit is broken I'd say it is a dead end. Maybe trying to disable the beep from the control module is the solution.

Maybe someone could help me measure the position on working towbar when retracted and I could use it as reference to understand if mine folds fully.

Here is a video by powerfulUK disassembling a towbar:
