Bring a trade-in into the equation and you certainly can get a "discount" (unless dealers like booking your trade-in at more than they then retail it at).

Question

Can you still get a 5% discount on LR products by joining the NFU?

Your discount may be hidden in your trade-in offer (eg. you are paid more for your trade in than they then retail it for).

In my experience a trade in means you get screwed more.
They need to factor in hidden costs to put yours right if there are any faults and sell it.

And they won't sell anything unless they can make a % on it... it's a business, not a charity.

All that matters is the total price to swap, who cares whether they add it to the trade-in value or take it off the new price?

Anyway, there's currently at least one Approved Used Range Rover priced lower than its supposed trade in value was.

It was this bit that confused....

Most trade ins will be valued at or near "Trade Price" and then sold at or near "Retail Price" so it very unlikely they will ever pay you more in PX than they retail it for.

The dealer may juggle the figures for you "to seem to be getting a great deal" but he will not take in a car without some margin.

As Fox says you are less likely to get a true discount with a PX deal.

As I said, all that matters is the total price to swap.

I know the best price for a new car as advertised by the various brokers.

I know from the various price guides and advertisements what the existing car is worth.

The closer I can get to the difference between the two, the better - whether I was offered an unrealistic trade-in offer or a very good discount from list is irrelevant.

I think NFU Scotland were still doing that - http://www.nfus.org.uk/uploadedFiles/Landrover.pdf
BUT, I have a feeling this does NOT include any RR variant. Big Cry
