Going back to a L405

Well chaps after x2 L460’s over the last 12 months (and my dad having my old L405 2019MY) I’ve decided I’m no longer banging 30k/ year on these and I’ve put a deposit down on a lovely 4.4 SDv8 2018 pre-facelift AB in SVO satin blue.

I am keen to have all the latest software installed. Can a LR specialist do this (any recommendations in the south) as I don’t want to visit the dealer who are fairly useless around London

Many thanks Previous

I use AVS in Sindlesham and they were apprehensive to do software as it is not like your phone, takes bloody ages via OBD2

Having had 2 L460 I have also given up on them. Fortunately I kept the SDV8 L405 that I still love.
What we have to appreciate is that these cars are not made for the home market, they are now aimed at a far more profitable market place. Russia and the USA, thats worked out well. letters not necessarily in the right order

What's wrong with the L460s?

for me, the outside is fine, a modernisation of theL405, but the interior is sterile and too American. I'm not sure it will grow on me like the L322>L405 did First time FFRR owner

I hated the steering wheel the grove where the leathers meet the bling shiny cold metal and the poor quality buttons.
I hated the lights that are constantly flickering trying to decide if that bit should be main beam or dip.
I hated that I have to go in to 4 different screens and take my eyes off the road just to adjust the air flow on the dash vents, far too much controlled through a touch screen aimed at a pre pubescent geek.
Why do the front seats have an enormous chin that means if you put your feet flat on the floor it digs into the back of your legs.
The ECU throttle map was inept. letters not necessarily in the right order

Like Arch, I like the outside, you can see the progression in look from L405. The inside leaves me utterly cold; the steering wheel is awful - you pay £120K + and have to look at that?! The huge touchscreen and lack of proper buttons and dials. The whole point of a premium car is that all the touch points should feel high quality and in the 460, they don’t. Not a car for me. 2024 - 2021MY L405 5.0 SC Portofino Blue
2018 - 2024 2016MY L405 4.4 SDV8 VSE Aintree Green

2013 - 2017 2010MY L322 3.6TDV8 VSE Buckingham Blue
Various RR Sports and Freelanders before that!
