That’s positive news BB - I’ve had 2 hernias done years ago and all good ever since. You’re having the op at the best time of year, so make the most of the time off.

You can watch all the L322 videos on YouTube !

You’ll no doubt have a catheter in for a while. They’re a bit weird at first but you soon get used to it. Its amazing how much pee comes out of us.

Thanks Jonny, I had an hernia about 20 years ago on my left side that was repaired and not had a problem since.

I'm not really a fan of YouTube, however I'm thinking of taking up cooking lol. So gonna try some new recipes.

Catheter in for 2 weeks which I'm going to find weird. Then it's pads for up to 18 months after, depending how quick I can get my bladder back up to working properly again. Pre-admission on Wednesday.

If you want some entertaining, but skilled cooking YouTubers then Nick DiGiovanni is a good watch, also Max The Meat Guy if you like your steak.

You’ll get used to the catheter and walking round/sleeping with a bag strapped to your leg.

Pre-op is nothing to worry about, height, weight etc.

Now you're talking, I love a nice steak. Plenty of time to perfect my culinary skills, well try to.

I'm already prepared mentally for catheter, just not the time off lol. My missus has offered to buy me a huge model tall ship to assemble. Not done anything like that since I was a lad.

A must watch YouTuber for cooking and all round non-pc entertainment is a chap called Uncle Roger.

Just Google “Uncle Roger Jamie Oliver”

@BarmyBrummie:

If you like some very tasty home-cooked food, check out “John Kirkwood” on YouTube, his various pies and pastries recipes are legendary, if not particularly low calorie Embarassed Laughing

WARNING! Watching the videos can make you dangerously hungry! Razz “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Thanks gents, I shall be watching these videos to get some inspiration. My missus is rather looking forward to it me cooking and food ready for when she gets home from work. Hmmm I wonder what I can learn in the months being off work? MasterChef next year? Laughing

Hey Jonny all went well thanks, blood pressure a little high but I'm nervous as anything. Rather embarrassing showing the nurse I can do pelvic floor exercises. Drop me shorts so could she see while my missus was laughing. They gave me 2 bags of catheters for 2 weeks and a bag of protein drinks. Gotta take loads of tablets in the run up to the op in 2 weeks time. So that's it until the 15th, then the nerves will kick in even more.

Sounds like a fun day out !

I had a tap on my catheter bag, so kept it strapped on all the time. Having the catheter out is a very weird feeling, not painful, just very weird.

The nurses see this all day every day, so your embarrassment was probably very amusing for them as well.

Very Happy

Could have been a more worse of a day I suppose. Yes Jonny the ones they have given me have a tap on them, also got disposable ones for the night that just pushes into the tube with the tap. Time approaching rather fast and getting more nervous by the day.

Honestly - don’t be nervous BB. Look forward to the morphine hit and the feet up watching L322 videos !

I would happily swap positions for the time off and relaxation. That’s having gone through a very invasive procedure on my prostate last year.

I don't really watch YouTube, but the last few days I have been watching Sam's garage which is a very good view. So I may as well start watching a lot more, it beats loose women I suppose lol.
Eurgh a week to go. What's making it worse, my consultant said I'd be off work for minimum of 6 weeks, but others reckon I'm looking at 6 months. Pass me some rope.

@BB:

What? You don’t watch much YouTube? Shocked
Surely you watch “LR Time”? -it’s an absolute must, plenty of great humorous Land Rover content on there to keep you distracted & chuckling.

Don’t worry everything will be a breeze, the anxiety is always far worse than the reality, really.
In my past experience our NHS is second to none, you are in exceptionally good hands, they are fab.

I suppose I have to say that, my wife is a nurse, lol! But I know she is like her colleagues, and really cares about her patients and even worries about them when at home. Relax. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?
