They sell this in the exact shade, if you use their adhesion promotor then this latex paint works well, then seal it with their clear coat in different finishes... I used this on fatty offroader and it works well, just use an airbrush to apply |

@JonnyCJ I’m curious as to where you got these…I looked into doing this when I first got my L322 and gave up. The mounting brackets for the guard roller cassette were obsolete which left the only option as second hand. I saw that “Gentlemen of Salvage” had some of the parts listed on eBay but they were a bit bashed about, expensive (in my opinion) and there was some doubt if they would fit late model L322s (mine is 2012). So in the end I left it and bought a fixed dog guard. I ask as on the forum somewhere is a chap call Stuart who seems to be able to get parts made up from China. I wonder if that might be viable for these components if there is enough demand. TDV8 4.4 2012 |

I also have a 2012 but got the whole kit for a decent price on eBay. The brackets also looked a mess, but I do like a challenge so took the plunge.
However, Land Rover’s poor paint prep and finishing were actually a blessing in this case. The paint, which was originally Ivory under the grime literally came off with a finger nail. I ended up cleaning them first in hot soapy water and then used a stainless steel scourer to remove the paint. It doesn’t scratch the plastic and leaves a perfect finish for plastic primer and paint. I haven’t got round to the actual guard itself, but imagine that’s moulded in the finished colour rather than painted. Ready for paint after half an hour scrubbing.

End caps on the net roller were the same. These are held in place by a single rivet and pop off. Similar to a roller blind, they hold the spring on the roller, so will need to sort that on re-assembly.

Took the roller net thingy out of the cassette this evening, which was a simple case of tapping out the gold coloured retainer, then sliding out the net.
This left the cassette with some pretty stained and generally grubby vinyl covering the main body. Funnily enough I had some ivory coloured vinyl in the workshop, so contemplated recovering the cassette, however, the vinyl was pretty well glued down and no doubt wouldn’t have been an exact match for the retaining brackets, which I will be spraying in ivory. I therefore thought about spraying the existing vinyl, so after cleaning with APC and then wiping down with panel wipe, I did a test spray to see whether the vinyl would hold the primer. Pleased to say it did very well, so when my ivory rattle can arrives I’ll spray both the brackets and the cassette and barring some very minor dings, it should be as good as new.

Popped another coat of high build primer on the cassette and mount covers. All looking much cleaner and neater.
Decided it was now time to test fitted the bracket and cover on one side, whilst in the middle of 101 other jobs. Mounting holes for the bracket are there and the bracket seems as though it has a natural home. Put the cover over roughly in place and all looking hunky dory so far.
Final proof n the pudding will come once it’s all sprayed up in ivory, but I’d say it’s got a pretty good chance of working for 2010 - 2012 cars. |

Nice one. I nearly started doing this but stopped at the bracket part. Don’t have a dog so left it. Might have another look on the bay or e, but prices were high when I later looked.

Don't have the roof brackets at the front, although I do have a spare pair, but given I only have one doggy, I'll stick with the existing rear roof brackets. |

Paint arrived and gave the bits a couple of coats. Colour is a bit off, but only to be expected given it was a random ivory rattle can.
