The GM 5L40-E transmission has 3 shift solenoids:

• 1-2 shift (A)
• 2-3 shift (B)
• 4-5 shift (C)

but there is no shift solenoid for the 3-4 shift.

One of the accumulators controls the application of the Direct Clutch for the 3-4 shift, so I wonder if it might be worth checking that?
