Is my battery fubared or is that just tyhe 'go too' solution | |
The fatty does not get much use. so much so that the CTEK trickle charger was on for a couple of weeks recently.
Upon using the car next time I was presented with a wealth of warnings plus a totally dead NSF light cluster. Warnings were no adaptive cruise, no forward alert, bonnet open (it wasn't), coolant low (it wasn't), park brake fault etc plus headlights no longer swivel and no output from any lights / indicators on NSF cluster.
I cleared all codes with a basic reader but they still showed up in the dash afterwards.
Decided to take off battery and fully charge over-night. It charged t 13.1v (which thought was a bit high) but after fitting read 12.4v. Re fitted battery but al codes still showing. Upon ignition cycling once without starting the engine the voltage in the battery fell from 12.4 to 12.3. It remained at 12.3 for a few hours afterwards.
I know multiple errors invariably means new battery but could it also be something else. I will chcek the under arch earths but the range of errors confuses me.
As an aside I also note that my OEM battery is actually made by Excide and I can get a 850CCA 90aH Excide from my local factors for literally half what the main stealers wants!
That car starts and drives perfectly albeit with yellow and red triangles on the dash. Any opinions would be most welcome.
