Chassis beam welding repairs on L322

On my L322 3.6 tdv8 the main chassis beams left & right in the body shell are weakened and bent/damaged in a few places...has anyone replaced or strengthened these parts of the shell/chassis by cutting them out and welding in suitable box section beams? TIA
