Well it happened, top coolant hose

Had a very very slight coolant leak, topping up every few months when it told me on the dash. Found out where it was coming from and low and behold the hose coming from the right to the centre of the engine on the top hose just broke away as soon as I touched it. That's where the leak was dripping from so I'm rather lucky it didn't go while I was driving along. Rather bizarre how brittle it was just to break like that with the softest of touches. And looking online, I can't just buy the centre piece with the 2 hoses on it but the whole hose itself. Now, there's a way to rip us off in the parts department when clearly you can remove said broken piece from the main hose.

Indeed. Seem to think it was around £90 when mine broke a few years ago, maybe 4 or 5 years…..

A few folk on here have done an alternative fix, might be in the Wiki, can’t remember.

Thanks guys, but unfortunately I won't be able to do a temporary fix as I have to take my daughter back to Lichfield tomorrow so not got the time for the repair. Shame it didn't happen early this morning otherwise I'd had plenty of time to sort. Oh well, see if I can use the works van and just order the part There's a land rover parts shop in tredegar called foundry 4X4 which I didn't know about until today. But the repair is good to know should it happen again in the future.

Foundry have been going for years. Sure I’ve ordered from them at least once.

How easy is it to get to the bottom hose and remove it? Looks like it's a bit of tight fit under the throttle body. Would it just be worth replacing the centre piece as it looks a lot easier to do rather than replace the whole hose?

The fitting at the engine end is easy enough to remove by lifting the retaining clip, but first remove the air intake hose.

All fixed, bought the part from foundry 4X4 in tredegar for £55. 20 minutes to fit and bleed and now all good. Thanks guys.
