Its a clip on thing.

it has a C-shaped piece with 3 sides of a socket cutout which connects into a holder that has the other 3 sides of the socket. On the holder side, there are 1/2" square connectors to attach bars and ratchets to.

The setup allows you to seperate the 2 pieces and connect them together from either side of the bolt you want to undo, rather than place over the top. The example shown was an o2 sensor on an exhaust where the wire remained attached.

I think my fear would be just how much force you could put through them. V8 or else ...

The problem with the two post above is that :1 rounding off the hex fitting 2: access into the area.
and how stubborn it is to get undone.

You can see that its just a PIA from a previous post.
