Shamelessly I'm going to hijack this thread with some personal reflection....

I'm 1 month into FFRR ownership, having bought an £80K TDV8 VSE from LPR. Luckily, thankfully, it has been 100% fault free so far (as were my 2 D3s, bought from other dealerships, I might add). My experience of LPR has been nothing but perfect and James is now giving me huge confidence in LPR with his comments here Bow down The fact that there is clearly some cohesion between sales and service at LPR is unprecedented IMO.

You're right, with hindsight I should have taken it straight back to LPR, I'm sure everything would be different now if I had.

I think that is your problem right there: I have no idea what the addtl distance is, but it seems to me as if you saved yourself a couple of miles in exchange for throwing down a couple of hundred quid each time. Given the kind of service LPR seems to offer, I can't imagine that they would have charged full price on these repairs - unlike your local dealer who gained nothing on the sale and could therefore not afford to take a hit on the repairs.

And now that you have thrown down what I imagine to be a not insignificant amount of change for a new loom - which was at the root of all problems to begin with (aside from the service items) - you're getting rid of it. Confused

You purchased a 4 year old used car. There's an inherent risk in that. Unfortunately, you purchased a previously screwed up 4 year old used car. Now that you've fixed it at a much greater expense (to you) than necessary, the logical decision would be to drive it. If it continues breaking down, it really might be a lemon. Then sell it. I'd consider that to be unlikely, tho. (The same goes for Jsb's post on the first page, btw. Of all the items he listed, only 1 -bluetooth- has to do w/LR. Everything els is just a used car. If he didn't like it, he shoulda left his money in his pocket.)

And take your wife for a quick blast up to 130mph and tell her to quit whining. Laughing

Good News, is that the car is coming in to us so that we can have a look at it. There isn't a dealer in the land that doesn't have the occasional issue with a vehicle (they are mechanical after all), but touch wood we try to keep them to a minimum, and if we do fall short and supply a car with problems then it is down to how it is dealt with (once you get to see it in this instance).

James Thumbs Up

PS. Thanks for your comments Rolo, Pretlove & Azure (glad you are enjoying it).

Fingers crossed that it all gets sorted to your satisfaction Andy. Keep us posted! Referring to a previous post of yours: don't judge a Q7 by its looks (....runs and hides!)..... I did 75K miles in one in 2 years (2009 - 2011) and although I didn't originally want one (long story), it was probably one of the best cars I've ever owned. Only thing that went wrong was a blown number plate bulb (literally!). Having said that, it's no RR Thumbs Up

Going O/T now!.....

I used Broadspeed for a new D3 in 2006 and very pleased I was too!

FFRR was a long story though, and not a conventional arrangement. Discount there was, but it was via a company arrangement for private purchase.

Thanks Azure, I should hear something on Thursday.

The Q7 isn't all bad but the current Audi fashion for covering everything in LEDs makes it look a bit cheap IMHO.

One of the first breakdowns we had was directly opposite an Audi showroom (couldn't have picked a worse spot) and one of the sales guys came over with a Q7 brochure as the FFRR was being put on the low loader Laughing

Re. Q7: Know what you mean. Ours was a Feb 2009 so was the pre-'crashed into Halfrauds' look. Still not to everyone's tastes (even mine) but after 75K miles in nearly 25 months I have to give credit where it's due.

Re. the Audi salesman, that's the problem: no class (the cheeky blighter)! Laughing
