Noisy Fuel Pump

Noisy Fuel Pump

Does anyone use a fuel additive for 4.4. MY18 has a noisy fuel pump, it has been suggested that i try a fuel additive.

It has been in main dealers 3 times and had a new fuel pump, sometime its' loud sometimes it's quiet. Dealer says that all 4.4's are the same as the pump sits just behind passengers footwell.

When its on tick over or driving slow in traffic you can hear the pump buzzing away which is so annoying. Apart from noisy pump it drives and runs like a dream.

I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar issue and if you use an additive and what type and if it made any difference. ------------------------------------------

I can't say I've heared it on mine. If the main dealers are saying it's on all 4.4s, you could ask them to show it to you on their forecourt vehicles. Kev

Thanks. A friend has a 4.4 Sport and you can hear the fuel pump but you do haven't to listen for it. If mine was the same i could live with it.

The last time it was in MD they didn't have a 4.4 FF on the forecourt, several 3.0, It's not an issue with the 3.0. ------------------------------------------

Hi - I started to hear my front pump just before it broke. It's not something you should be hearing. But, I shifted to an OEM one first and it was noisy right from the start. Ordered a genuine one and then the noise disappeared.

I think something is wrong with your car. It may be the in tank fuel pump. It can also relate to other parts like fuel pressure regulator making it need to pump more than necessary or the high pressure pump doing the same. Somehow your pump should not make noises.
