4.4 tdv8 EGR and Dpf

Hello guys,

Im from belgium and cars build before 2013 will pass the technical inspection without a dpf.

On all my cars (mostly bmw) i removed my dpf and egr togheter with a software update and they drive way better then with those enviroment Censored on.
I never had an issues with deleting them and my wifes f11 520d still drives strong at 400000 km. Intake clean as new.

Now i looking and reading as mutch as i can online on removing the dpf en egr from a 4.4 tdv8.

Some say that it even can damage the engine.

Who has intel ? Who removed both?

Where can i find a real specialist who can do it for me. (Uk) especially the software site of it or the compelete package.

I just cleaned my intake and damn it was bad..

I dont care about envirement. I just want a clean healty engine.

Thank you.

My 2011 4.4 TDV8 had a EGR delete in software ( and Economy Remap at the same time ) about five years ago, and it really helped with engine power and a much cleaner system all round.

I would not remove the DPF ( you can't delete the DPF in software anyway on the 4.4 ) , the best thing to do is buy Launch UK EGR DPF Turbo 400ml bottle for £10, put it in a full tank of diesel, then do it again every 6 months.

To keep an eye on things, it might be worth investing in a cheap OBD II scanner - this thread has all the info to do this, many 4.4 owners have done this to keep an eye on oil dilution and DPF regens

Well worth reading all 26 pages to get on top of all the latest intel Smile

AU versions (ROW?) weren't fitted with a DPF and I know that the DPF can be deleted from the software if the remappers are prepared to do it.

Mine had EGR deleted from software plus a minor power increase to match the L405 but as yet I haven't blanked the pipe.

Thanks,

I already saw rough restos. He had both deleted i think.

So best way is to start removing the egr. Who knows a good place to remove egr and a tune?

Gr

you don't need to remove the EGR ( or blank it or delete it ) , you just need it to be done using software, if you are in Belgium coming to UK to get this done, then the man that did mine is near Harlow in Essex

The DPF is not really a problem as long as you take care of it, it's easy enough to perform satisfactory regens if you know what you are doing Smile

If you do gut the DPF it will set a DTC due to lack of differential pressure, you either need to have the ECM software modified or introduce a downstream pressure drop within acceptable limits (2-5 Hpa is a good differential for a low DPF load). Ash load is calculated, not measured !

Personally I did give this some consideration five years ago, but after speaking to numerous people more knowledgeable than me in this area, I was pleased to learn that a carefully looked after DPF can do more than 300,000 miles without a problem, as long as a regen is done every 500 miles or so.

Do you have a GAP IID scanner/tool or something similar that allows you to keep an eye on this ??

Will your OBD scanners work with the "Car Scanner App" used in the below thread ??

https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic60839.html

If not can you buy a cheap OBD II scanner ( less than 20 euros ) that does work with the Car Scanner app on your mobile phone Smile

Please get time to read the first 10 pages of the thread, you will be very happy about monitoring DPF and how well the exhaust system is operating after you have had the EGR software deleted and your car re-mapped Smile

Hi Pete.
Did your EGR delete get rid of the low revs flat spot?
Has it had any problems with having it done like engine management warning light?
Would like mine to get off the mark a bit quicker without a delay.
Thanks Kev.

Kevin, yes it was the only reason ( 5 years back )for me to get the EGR delete done in software and the remap done, and it worked, she flies off from standstill, and still does to this day Smile

No warnings on the dash, and the bonus without the EGR system I can table below :

1) enhanced engine performance
2) improved fuel efficiency - it was about 10% better for me, which is a lot Smile
3) reduced carbon build up in the intake manifold
4) the engine operates more efficiently by not recirculating exhaust gases
5) reduced wear and tear on engine components and potentially extending the engine's life
6) the results for me seemed to conjure up a more dynamic driving experience

I will have to try and find someone local to get it done. It's my only gripe with how it drives.
A couple of mappers I've contacted refuse to do it because it is not deemed good for the planet!!

Mine is a Viezu fuel efficiency remap. Perhaps give Viezu a call or find a dealer local to you from their website.

I have been trying to keep an eye on my DPF load using a GAP IID BT tool, but it doesn't show up in the list of modules anywhere that I can find it.
My car is a 2012 Vogue SE and as far as I know it's UK standard spec. I suspect something is wrong with my tool but nobody has been able to offer a solution so far... 2012 L322 TDV8 Vogue SE: Buckingham Blue
