Hi Mikey. Very interesting.
When I bought the car, it had already had work done to try to fix the issues, being the replacement of the ABS module. The previous owner and his LR specialist had determined that the original module was the cause of the fault (I am not convinced).
The replacement module, which was in the car when I got it, is an SRB 500 174. However, this module throws the error incorrectly reading the brake switch circuits. This module is in near pristine condition which aligns with it being a new old stock replacement as I was told.
The car also came with its "original" module, not installed. This module is an SRB 500 164. The wear and tear and dirt colouration on this module matches the rest of the engine bay so I am assuming that there has been no mix up and the car did indeed live with that module for most of its life.
The SRB 500 164 that I purchased second hand and brought in from the US as an equivalent to the module I believe is original to the car was apparently mated to a 4.4 (presumably BMW) petrol. Hard to know for sure. The build date on this new module is 21/12/05, which is why I picked it as it's reasonably close to the build date of the car.
I am conscious that the build date being May 2006, that there is a good chance that this thing might be a parts bin special during the transition from BMW to Ford. Hopefully not one with unique programming of old modules which can never be recreated...
If it helps, my VIN is SALLMAM336A234213 (frustratingly just a few thousand earlier than the 2006 wiring diagrams).
Thanks for your continued attention and patience.
